A BILL to amend article three-b, chapter twenty-nine of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section six-a, relating to the supervision and licensure of electricians; and allowing persons qualified for licensure as a journeyman electrician or master electrician to apply for a license without written examination during a one-time ninety-day period.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article three-b, chapter twenty-nine of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section six-a, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 3B. SUPERVISION OF ELECTRICIANS.

§29-3B-6a. License without examination; additional application period.

Any person who met the criteria for obtaining a license as a journeyman electrician or a master electrician without examination as of the eighth day of April, one thousand ninehundred eighty-nine, but who did not complete the application process within ninety days of that date, may reapply for a license without examination during the period beginning on the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred ninety-four, and ending on the twenty-ninth day of September, one thousand nine hundred ninety-four. Applicants seeking a license as a journeyman electrician or a master electrician under the provisions of this section shall meet all other criteria required for licensure in these classifications as set forth in section four of this article and shall be subject to all other standards, rules and fees authorized by this article.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to permit a journeyman electrician or a master electrician to apply for a license without examination for 90 days from July 1, 1994, if he or she qualified for such a classification on April 8, 1989, but did not complete the application process within the time allowed by statute for such persons who met all other licensure criteria to be initially grandfathered in without examination.
